The Governing Board has approved the request for European FEDER Funds within the Multiregional Operational Program of Spain (POPE) to finance the development of different projects that are incorporated into the Mobility Plan and significantly improve mobility in the municipality
The aid requested amounts to more than 12 million euros and most of the projects submitted are related to the implementation of electric mobility in the municipality.
Thus, the City Council seeks to implement a rental system for scooters, bicycles and electric motorcycles, which is added to other projects related to this non-polluting mobility such as the implementation of a renewable electric mobility system in the parking lots of the city of Murcia and the promotion of electric mobility through the adaptation of bicycle parking.
Aid has also been requested for the development of the project to establish regulated parking areas, which seeks to modernize all the parking meters and systems of this service, and for the update of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan that includes new modes of efficient mobility.
Also, this request for European funds ERDF includes the installation of electrical panels in the pergolas of the Garden of Santa Isabel that can supply clean energy vehicles with sustainable mobility, such as scooters or bicycles.
The Operational Program FEDER Pluriregional of Spain (POPE) 2014-2020 seeks the promotion of a low carbon economy.
This program, funded by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union, regulates the granting of aid to promote energy efficiency projects, sustainable mobility or the use of renewable energy in local entities with populations under 20,000 inhabitants.
The service of European Programs of the City of Murcia depends on the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government, directed by Mercedes Bernabé.
