José Manuel López Nicolás, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Murcia (UMU) and creator of the Scientia blog, presents the book A Scientist in the supermarket.
The appointment will be this Thursday, November 7 at 8:00 p.m. in the Classroom of Culture of the Cajamurcia Foundation.
After the success of his latest book Let's buy lies (Cálamo), López Nicolás returns with a scientist in the supermarket.
This work will discover to readers the science that is hidden behind our routine, with the fun and entertaining tone that characterizes the author.
The cante jondo, tennis or the Lottery of the Child are just some examples with which he will undertake this journey through "the science of small things".
Alberto Aguirre de Cárcer, director of the newspaper La Verdad, will join him in this adventure, with whom he joins a great friendship, who will be in charge of presenting the work and moderating the act.
"It will be a very special day, especially for presenting it in the city to which I owe it all. The book is having a fantastic reception by the public, the press and my colleagues ... I think it will be very difficult for me not to I moved next Thursday when I was surrounded by so many dear people, "says López Nicolás.
Dismantling myths
As in his previous work, the disseminator will emphasize clarifying the truths and lies in science that we find daily.
In the form of dialogues or conversations with different characters, sometimes through their friends or coworkers, sometimes with their daughter Ruth, and sometimes with easily recognizable celebrities, we get into chemophobia, a patent struggle in his blog, in the danger of energy drinks or pseudoscientific marketing.
It also presents the science that transcends disciplines and that can be found, without knowing it, in art, cinema or Easter.
A total of 12 stories in which daily science is gutted freely.
After the presentation of the book, José Manuel López Nicolás will sign copies to all attendees.
A scientist in the supermarket, published by Planeta, is now available in bookstores and commercial surfaces throughout Spain.
