The underground containers that have been installed in the surroundings of San Esteban have already come into operation.
The Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, has visited the area this morning to check its operation.
This action has allowed the elimination of three existing sets with 14 containers, which have been replaced by three new locations with as many underground ones.
Thus, the collection point on the side of the enclosure, on Acisclo Díaz street, has been moved next to the parking facade, on the same road;
the one located in the Portillo de San Antonio street has been located a few meters later, after the Bankia building, and the one in Callejón Burruezo has been installed underground in the Madre Esperanza street.
The first two have 5 units (two organic waste, one for paper, one for packaging and one for glass) and 4 in Madre Esperanza.
Councilwoman Rebeca Pérez has indicated that "the neighbors have welcomed this action with great pleasure to eliminate the visual impact of the usual containers as well as improve the cleanliness of this emblematic area, reduce noise and be more comfortable to use. It is a step more in the planned actions in the project of recovery of the deposit and adjacent streets ".
The City Council has invested in these works a total of 150,501 euros.
Container burial work will begin in Cabezo de Torres and Zeneta in the coming weeks
