The Councilor of Podemos-Equo, Clara Martínez Baeza, will take next Thursday October 31 a motion to the Plenary warning of the situation in which both the building and the service is, which, in his opinion, "is being offered in a manner precarious due to the bad conditions to which it is subjected. "
For the Podemos-Equo municipal group, the attention to women victims of gender violence "must have all the guarantees of security, privacy and humanity" and with the state of the building, "these premises are not fulfilled".
The waiting room is a corridor with just two seats, where both women and relatives or companions have to wait.
The care rooms are not individual, but are shared with other victims with the sole separation of a screen.
The accessibility conditions established by law are not met.
The building is old, it is not adapted to the needs of the service, it is full of damp and has many damages.
The last example is recent, in the rainy episodes of September the roof of one of the rooms on the second floor fell.
"The precarious situation in which the people in charge of the service are working and in which the victims are being taken care of is obvious. There is only one quick visit to understand that the place is not right."
Councilwoman Clara Martínez Baeza, has said that this "carelessness" in municipal care for victims of gender violence "causes double victimization, a situation of vulnerability aggravated by lack of privacy, lack of means and discomfort in the service provision ".
For all these reasons, the municipal group Podemos-Equo will submit a motion to the Plenary on October 31 for the municipal corporation "to recognize the need to relocate the space where more than half of the women victims of gender violence are served. from our municipality and proceed to relocation. "
For its part, the motion also urges "to provide the EMAVI with sufficient and necessary budget to carry out their work in the best conditions."
