The Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, today opened the congress on citizen participation at the local level organized by the Eurocities Network in Paris.
The mayor has intervened as co-chair of the Eurocities digital citizenship working group, along with Ana Lisa Bonni, general secretary of Eurocities, Brother Sanches, deputy mayor of European Affairs of Paris and technicians of the French city of Nantes.
“Local governments provide many services that have to be effective and efficient to improve the quality of life of citizens.
Thus, it is necessary to listen to citizens on issues related to the neighborhood in which they live or to the transport model they want to be users of, â€notes Mercedes Bernabé.
For its part, Ana Lisa Bonni has highlighted Murcia as a city that is part of the Eurocities Network, as well as that the City Council has a Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government, “as a good practice at national level, along with the cities of La Coruña and Malaga â€.
From this conference, the participating cities are expected to debate and approve the guiding principles of citizen participation at the local level in which the network has been working in the last year.
These principles are the inspiring elements of citizen participation on which the city strategy Murcia 2030 and Urban Agenda are governed.
