The Municipal Network of Libraries of Murcia is part, through the Rio Segura Library, of the cooperative virtual reference service of Spanish public libraries, 'Ask: libraries respond'.
The Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, has visited the Río Segura Library to learn about this service that since 2008 offers information to citizens through the internet.
"This is an example of good practices, cooperative work between public libraries in Spain, guaranteeing the right of access and use of information of all our citizens and putting knowledge available to everyone," said the mayor.
Any citizen, Spanish or foreigner (whenever you make your inquiry in Spanish or in any of the Spanish co-official languages), can ask a general question through the website https://www.pregunte.es, either from the computer or from any mobile device (phone or tablet) and receive a response through two modalities: email and / or chat, without being registered in a public library.
Specifically, the Río Segura Library attends the modality by email, through a tool developed and maintained by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and by chat, on Mondays from 4.45 pm to 7.00 pm.
According to the type of information that citizens demand through this service, the Rio Segura Library has responded to issues related to travel guides, book reservations, cartographic documents, about the location of publications and inquiries of other books from other communities
