In the coming weeks, paving works on Martínez Costa de Monteagudo street will begin.
This road has a distribution of pedestrian areas and intended for very irregular road traffic since in some sections there are practicable sidewalks, but without continuity given the lack of alignment of the facades of existing homes.
This causes that in specific areas the sidewalks narrow to the point of almost disappearing, which makes it impossible for pedestrian traffic in safety conditions for pedestrians.
What is intended is to solve the lack of space for pedestrians in the street and, after the study of the geometry of the road and taking into account especially the cultural and historical environment in which it is located, a paving will be made with cobblestone facade to facade at the same level that allows the compatibility of pedestrian and road traffic and, at the same time, the improvement of the aesthetics of the place.
When the Historic Site has been declared, the City Council has drafted a special protection plan for the affected area, and has requested authorization from the General Directorate of Cultural Property of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
The works will be carried out by Pavasal Empresa Constructora SA for 119,597 euros within 3 months.
The project is part of the Extraordinary Investment Plan in Pedanías, which coordinates the Department of Pedanías y Barrios, which is directed by Marco Antonio Fernández.
