The Poncemar Chair of Gerontology at the University of Murcia organizes the 'III Conference on Fragility and Falls in Older Persons', which will take place from October 14 to 17 in the auditorium of the Faculty of Social and Health Sciences of the campus of Lorca.
The objective of these days is to address the update and review of knowledge regarding fragility and falls in the elderly.
For this, various presentations and round tables will be developed by experts in the field.
The opening ceremony will be on Monday, October 14 at 4 pm and will feature representatives from the University of Murcia, the City of Lorca, the University Department and the Poncemar Foundation.
Next, María Trinidad Herrero, professor of the UMU School of Medicine and president of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of the Region, will be in charge of giving the inaugural conference, entitled 'Differential aging of men and women'.
Finally, a round table will be held to address the importance of the senses in the elderly.
On Tuesday 15 will be dedicated, on the one hand, to address prevention in frail elderly people and will address issues such as the importance of balanced eating and the effects of loneliness and depression.
Another round table will be responsible for analyzing the role of physiotherapy, occupational therapy and physical exercise in the fragility of this group.
Nursing care and nursing homes will be the protagonists of the session on Wednesday 16, which will focus, among other topics, on the management of cases of chronic and dependent patients.
The day of Thursday 17 will analyze the chronic pluripatological patient and will end with the closing of the conference at 7:45 p.m.
In addition to the Chair's advisory council, the affected Professions Associations and representatives of the Murcia Health Service participated in the preparation of the program.
These conferences are accredited by the Commission for Continuing Education of Health Professions in the Region of Murcia.
