The Unit of Scientific Culture and Innovation (UCC + i) of the University of Murcia (UMU) launches the photographic contest 'Mixing the two cultures: art and science', a project with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) - Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
This contest, which seeks to promote scientific culture through photography, tries to unite the empirical and beautiful and encourage creativity as an informative tool.
It also aims to bring science closer to society from an artistic point of view and encourage researchers to show their work in a different and striking way.
The contest, valid until 2 pm on November 5, 2019, is open to anyone of legal age and resident in the Region of Murcia.
Participants must capture images that show a history of scientific and artistic interest, showing the union between the two disciplines.
That is, the photographs should illustrate a scientific aspect of an artistic discipline, or an artistic aspect of a scientific discipline.
The works must be original and unpublished.
In case of non-compliance, the UMU will not be liable for any damages it may bring.
A first prize of € 400 and a second prize of € 200 are established, together with an accrediting diploma, which will be awarded at an event organized by the UCC + i, even without a specific date.
