The City of Murcia joins, through the departments of Seniors, Disability and Development Cooperation, and Sports and Health, to the OCR Yincana 'An obstacle.
A smile 'for the benefit of the Association of Solidarity Families with the Belarusian People.
The hamlet of Los Garres will host this Sunday, October 20, at 12 noon, this solidarity race, organized by OCR Murcia and the Festival Committee, which will take place between C / Abeto and C / Casino.
During the holiday they are also scheduled a workshop to create solidarity shirts, from 12 to 14.00 and from 16.00 to 18.00;
a neighborhood coexistence with giant paella at 2:00 p.m., and a foam party that will be at 5:30 p.m.
All activities will take place in the garden of C / La Gloria of this district.
The head of Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, together with the mayor of Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, presented this event this morning, accompanied by the president of the Association of Solidarity Families with the Belarusian People, Pedro Javier Guevara Reinaldos, and representatives of the Party Committee of Los Garres and OCR Murcia.
The proceeds will be used to promote aid projects in Belarus but, above all, they will contribute to the temporary reception of minors in the municipality of Murcia.
This summer almost a hundred Murcia families welcomed Belarusian children between 8 and 17 years old.
For this Christmas the arrival of 50 children is expected.
Councilwoman Paqui Pérez has encouraged Murcia to participate in these solidarity activities that "allow us to become aware of the difficulties faced by Belarusian families affected by the terrible nuclear catastrophe in Chernobyl."
The mayor of the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation thanked the Association of Solidarity Families with the Belarusian People, the Murcian families and the organizers for their generosity and dedication.
"You are an example to follow," he said.
For his part, Councilman Felipe Coello has indicated that "Murcia is a welcoming municipality and therefore we will continue to develop actions such as this that promote these kids to spend the summer in our city, since different studies have shown that this initiative has important benefits for their health thanks to the sun, food and air free of radioactivity. I encourage Murcia to get involved and, in addition to participating in this event, offer themselves as welcoming families. "
