The City Council is a finalist in the Egovernment category of the EnergiTIC awards through the Life Heatland project, which seeks to lower the ambient temperature of the city with high reflectance flooring.
Until November 15, registered users can cast their votes for the election of the winner in each of the categories, which will be announced at the official awards ceremony that will take place on December 13 at the Secretary of State for the Digital Advance (Madrid).

In this way, the town hall, through the Department of Urban Agenda and Open Government, directed by Mercedes Bernabé, is a finalist in the Innovation and Technology Awards for Efficiency in the Digital Age.

The City Council participates in the Life Heatland project together with the Business Association of Research Technological Center of the Construction of the Region of Murcia (CTCON), the construction company CHM Obras y Infraestructuras, the Regional Federation of Construction Entrepreneurs of Murcia (FRECOM) and cluster of the construction sector of Slovenia.
The organization has valued this initiative for its degree of applied innovation, the level of use of information and communication technologies, as well as for its impact on reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
Life Heatland project
This initiative directly addresses urban adaptation to the consequences of climate change and does so by minimizing the effect of Urban Heat Island (ICU) by using new pavements with less solar energy storage than conventional ones, reducing both surface temperature and the environmental, which will contribute to a better quality of life and people's well-being.
