The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, presented the activities that commemorate the XXIX Anniversary of the Ramón Gaya Museum, founded in 1990, among which stands out the symposium 'The Modernity of Ramón Gaya ', which will be held on October 16 and 17 at the Museo Nacional del Prado.
"Ramón Gaya was a painter who in his condition as an exile had painting as a true homeland, the Prado Museum being his strongest reference, as he left written in 'Roca Española', one of his texts," said the mayor of Murcia , who added that "for its permanent relationship with the Prado Museum, Madrid will host this symposium to honor the Murcian painter."
The meeting, free admission, coincides with the Bicentennial of the National Museum of the Prado, founded in 1819. The director of the Academy of Fine Arts of Murcia and professor of Art History of the University of Murcia, Cristóbal Belda, as well as experts will participate , relatives and friends of the Murcian painter, who will analyze the pictorial and literary work of Ramón Gaya.

This cultural meeting, whose registration process will remain open until October 10, will host conferences, round tables and the screening of 'La Serenissima', by Gonzalo Ballester, a finalist documentary at the Goya 2007 awards.
