Tourists grew 8.9 percent during the months of July and August 2019 in Murcia.
According to the data provided by the National Statistics Institute (INE), the city received a total of 74,120 travelers during this period, of which 22,406 arrived from abroad, overcoming the barrier of 2018 when a total of 19,398 foreign tourists visited Murcia.
Hotel occupancy during the two summer months reached 123,241 overnight stays and maintained the positive trend of recent years, with a percentage growth of 4.56 percent compared to 2018.
The Councilor for Employment, Economic Promotion and Tourism has described this information as very good news.
"In the Department we are at work to launch various promotional campaigns that improve these figures and increase the number of tourists, foreigners and nationals, who visit Murcia to enjoy its cultural, heritage and gastronomic wealth."
For its part, the profitability of the hotel sector has remained at the same levels of 2018, with an average turnover per room (ADR) of 63.94 euros in July 2019 compared to 63.50 in the previous period.
Murcia has 23 establishments with 2,248 rooms totaling 4,496 seats in four, three and two star hotels.
"Our main objective is to promote the municipality, make it known and sell its main attractions to continue improving current data," concluded the mayor of Employment, Economic Promotion and Tourism.
