The Governing Board has approved the Emergency Plan against mosquitoes due to problems arising from DANA.

The Department of Sports and Health, in order to respond quickly and efficiently to the various requests alerting of mosquito foci, has expanded the human and technical resources to be able to disinfect all those areas where this intervention is needed.

After the rains, the council reoriented the human and material resources of the Mosquito Control Program, also incorporating resources from the Zoonosis Municipal Control Center.

Thus, 14 technicians, a Hydropneumatic Pick-up, a Thermospray Pick-up, 4 manual thermoneutizers, 10 spraying backpacks for scuppers, treatment drones and a helicopter were dedicated to this work.

Now it has been necessary to further expand these means given the proliferation of mosquitoes in the municipality.

To this end, the Governing Board approves today the increase in material resources, with two vans, a Pickup and thermospray guns, and human resources with 6 more people.

It will also incorporate aerial means for the location of foci (ramblas, rafts, pool ...) and other treatment.

It should be remembered that the City Council can only act in public spaces and that many of the mosquito proliferation centers are found in private areas, in the accumulations of water that are formed, for example, in containers, pots and private yards, as well as in untreated or abandoned pools, so the collaboration of all residents of the municipality is essential, since 80% of mosquito foci are in private areas.

Finally, it should be remembered that Aedes albopictus (tiger mosquito) is able to reproduce on small surfaces of water (water holes, buckets, pot dishes, etc.), as well as in untreated or abandoned pools.

In this way, the fallen rains have generated, in the case of Murcia and districts and in the garden, thousands of small accumulations of water, so the help of the population is requested in the elimination of all these foci in private environments
