The Civil Guard dismantles a youth group dedicated to vehicle theft in Beniaján (02/10/2019)

They accessed a mechanical workshop where they stole two cars and the ignition keys of other vehicles that were pending repair

The two passenger cars, part of the stolen keys and two child restraint systems have been recovered

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed the YOUNGDRIVER operation, an investigation established to clarify the theft of two vehicles from a mechanical workshop in Beniaján, which has resulted in the dismantling of a youth group, consisting of three teenagers, two of they are minors, who have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery with force, damage and against road safety, for driving without a license.

The investigation began when a citizen security prevention patrol, which was serving at night in the Murcia neighborhood of TorreagĂźera, observed the presence of a vehicle parked in a poorly lit orchard area.

The civil guards verified that it was closed, despite which, they inquired to know the circumstances under which their driver had decided to leave tourism in the area.

In this way they located their owner who informed them that his car was in a mechanical workshop in Beniaján for a repair.

After this, the Civil Guard contacted the owner of the workshop who immediately went to his establishment to verify with the agents what happened.

The access to the premises had been violated and the vehicle found in the path of the garden and other tourism was missing, as well as numerous keys from others found in the repair shop.

In addition, serious damage had been caused to the engine of another tourism on which they had overturned an oil canister.

The Benemérita then established a police device aimed at locating the second tourism, as well as initiating the appropriate investigations to identify, locate and detain the perpetrators of the investigated crimes.

After two days of searching, agents located tourism in another lane of TorreagĂźera orchard, also closed and hidden in the undergrowth.

Inside, in addition, part of the stolen start-up keys of the workshop were recovered.

Citizen collaboration has been crucial for researchers

From the investigations carried out below, the agents obtained statements and testimonies that were bashing the profile of the suspects.

Apparently it was a group of young people, who had even been seen throwing away, in a garbage container, the children's elevators that occupied the rear seats of one of the stolen vehicles.

These seats were also recovered and returned to their rightful owner.

Another witness saw two young men driving one of the stolen vehicles, while other statements made it possible to determine that they had prowled in the vicinity of the mechanical workshop in a suspicious attitude in days prior to committing the robbery.

With the information obtained, and the result of numerous surveillance devices, the Civil Guard has located and detained three young people, two of them minors, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery with force, damage and against road safety.

According to the investigation, it is a criminal group, of a youth nature, based in the municipality of Beniaján, allegedly dedicated to vehicle theft.

For this, they had distributed the different criminal tasks, from the monitoring of the mechanical workshop, to the selection of the vehicles that were inside.

His alleged intention of continuity is manifested by the theft of numerous starting keys of other vehicles.

The YOUNGDRIVER operation has culminated in the dismantling of a criminal group, whose three members have been arrested as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of robbery with force, damage and against road safety.

The Civil Guard has recovered two passenger cars, numerous vehicle start keys, as well as two child restraint systems.

Those arrested, the effects recovered and the proceedings taken have been made available to the Court of Instruction number 8 of Murcia and the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office of Murcia.
