The Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, meets in Madrid with Carmen Sánchez-Miranda, head of UN Spain, to work on a collaboration agreement between both entities.
During her stay in the capital of Spain, the mayor holds a meeting with technicians of the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving of the Ministry for Ecological Transition (IDAE) to check the status of the call for low-carbon economy for local entities .
The Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, visited the UN Office in Spain yesterday to advance a memorandum of understanding and a collaboration agreement between both entities in the framework of the implementation of the Murcia 2030 Urban Agenda.
The councilor transmitted to Carmen Sánchez-Miranda, head of UN Spain, the intention to establish a framework of collaboration beneficial to both parties, “in order to cooperate in areas of mutual interest related to Sustainable Urban Development, respond to opportunities and challenges of urbanization and thus transform cities into inclusive centers of vibrant economic growth, social progress and environmental sustainability. ”
The technical experience of both parties, which will be applied in this collaboration, will allow a more effective and efficient use of the resources made available.
Aid for sustainable growth
During her visit to Madrid, Councilwoman Mercedes Bernabé also met with Irene Menéndez García, head of the Department of Sustainable Urban Development, as well as technicians from the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving of the Ministry for Ecological Transition (IDAE).
The objective of this meeting was to know the status of the processing of the aid files requested by the City Council for the call for low-carbon economy for local entities.
The mayor explains that the session attended the call for grants to unique projects of local entities that favor the transition to a low carbon economy under the operational program of sustainable growth of the ERDF 2014-2020.
The call finances, among other measures, projects aimed at sustainable urban mobility, as well as improving energy efficiency
