The University of Murcia will take the Plaza de la Merced to make a human bond for equality (30/09/2019)

The University of Murcia (UMU) organizes next Wednesday, October 2 from 7 p.m. the event 'EnlazadODS' in the Plaza Universidad de Murcia - next to the Campus of La Merced- a great party for equality framed in the project of promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) called SDG sessions, where a great human violet bond for equality will take place.

'EnlazadODS' will start the 'SDG: 5: Gender Equality', which will be developed in three faculties of the UMU: Labor Sciences, Communication and Documentation and, finally, Law.

Diplomas to relevant women

During this event, the most relevant women of the Region of Murcia will be rewarded and will feature live performances by the University Choir, Victoria Cava, Don Flúor, KUVE and Yana Zafiro.

All concerts and activities of 'EnlazadODS' will be free, and access will be free until capacity is reached.

In addition, during the event, relevant women from the Region of Murcia will be awarded, awarded for being professional references in different sectors such as training, business, politics, communication, art or the third sector.

The event, which will be attended by the rector of the UMU, José Luján, will be presented by the UMU socio-cultural animation technician, Mª José Montejano;

the vice president of Equality and Diversity of the Student Council of the UMU, Encarna Campuzano;

and the UMU Student coordinator, Diego García.

Batucadas, balloons and pintacaras

In addition, during the act Concha Pando, representative of the Unit for Equality of the UMU, will read a 'Manifesto for Equality', which will be followed by a minute of silence in homage to the victims of gender violence.

The act will be animated by the batucadas 'Cucuprá' and 'Templum', and there will be pintacaras for the little ones.

Thousands of violet balloons will be distributed throughout the day at the La Merced Campus, with the aim of encouraging the formation of the biggest violet human loop in the history of the Region at 8.30 pm, which will start with the Plaza College.

The organization plans to take an area of ​​more than 10,000 square meters in the historic center of Murcia, reaching at its ends until Avenida Antonete Gálvez.

More than 50 activities

From January 2019 to April 2021 SDG sessions dedicate each month to disseminate and organize activities about each of the 17 SDGs established by the United Nations in the 2030 Agenda.

Thus, this initiative organizes from September 30 to October 31, 2019 more than 50 activities within the framework of 'SDG 5: Gender Equality'.

A program in which the students and professors of the affiliated faculties, dean teams, the Unit for Equality and NGOs have participated, as well as public and private institutions.

Among the most outstanding activities of SDG 5 is the day entitled 'Women in the world of work', where the President of the Economic and Social Council (CES) of Spain, Mª del Carmen, will speak on October 10 from 10 to 12.30 Barrier;

the Deputy Secretary General of UGT, Cristina Antoñanzas;

or the head of Social Security of CEO, Olimpia del Águila.

This debate, in which members of the university community and regional politics will also participate, will have as its scenario the headquarters of the CES in Murcia.

An 'app' to feel safe

On October 11 from 12 to 13 hours the 'Technovation' fair will be held at the University Social Center, where the young Spanish winners of the 2019 'Technovation Challenge' contest will participate. They will present the mobile application 'When and Where', designed by a group of students from the public institute Velázquez de Móstoles (Madrid).

It is a project inspired by the aggressions that women suffer only because they are women.

Another notable activity will take place on October 16 from 11.30-13.30 hours, 'Game of the XX differences', organized by the NGO Abraham Project in the courtyard of the School of Communication.

Through a game the differences between men and women will be made visible when dressing in their work environment, and participants can choose how to dress mannequins in a non-sexist way.

While the platform of feminist journalists of the Region, Colombine, will offer on October 24 from 10 to 11 hours at the Faculty of Communication its vision on 'The exercise of journalism from a gender perspective', with the participation of the communicators Carmen Campos and Rebeca Escribano.
