The Governing Board has approved three issues that affect the taxi sector.
On the one hand, the call for subsidies has been approved for the promotion of maintenance of adapted taxi vehicles for people with reduced mobility, a program in which the City Council will invest 205,000 euros.
Taxi drivers may request aid to finance increases in the cost of operating adapted vehicles (fuel consumption, cost of ramp repairs, safety harness and wheel change, as well as repair services and mandatory passenger insurance) and They can obtain up to 4,000 euros per application.
Application forms may be obtained at the offices of the Transportation Service or on the website of the municipality and must be submitted to the Municipal Registry.
On the other hand, the call for subsidy for the acquisition or transformation of autotaxi vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility has also been approved authorizing an expense of 35,500 euros.
This call is addressed to license holders of these types of vehicles, trying to reach the highest possible levels of effectiveness and efficiency in the allocation and use of public resources.
The granting of these grants seeks to co-finance the higher costs that the acquisition or transformation of these types of vehicles entail in relation to conventional taxis.
The maximum amount to be received will be 6,000 euros for the acquisition or 4,500 euros for the transformation of adapted taxi vehicle.
The deadline for submitting applications will be 10 calendar days from the day following the publication in the official newspaper from the National Grant Database.
The aid will be granted in compliance with the strict order of date of the application and until the available credit is exhausted, provided that the requirements established in these bases are met.
With these two agreements, the Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth intends to implement increasingly accessible public transport services, since this increases the autonomy of people with reduced mobility and enables more efficient and useful transport, at the same time that guarantees universality, accessibility and quality in the provision of this service.
This same line of action follows the same promotion policies that have been developed since 2012, when the ONCE Foundation concluded its financing program for the adaptation of auto taxi vehicles, and that such a good result has given that Currently, 42 adapted taxi licenses are available in Murcia, being one of the largest fleets in Spain.
