José Luis Castillo-Puche is one of the most recognized figures in the Region of Murcia, a personality of international projection within the literary field.
In addition to being a writer, Castillo-Puche was a tireless journalist, professor and traveler, author of dozens of books and thousands of articles, and achieved an extensive record of literary recognitions, among which are the Prize for Fine Arts of Hispanic Culture (1955 ) and the national awards of Miguel de Cervantes Literature (1958), of Fine Arts Literature (1963) and the Novel and Narrative for his work "You will know the land of nothingness" (1982), among others.
Also, the writer was named Adoptive Son of Murcia in 2002, which for the socialist councilor Enrique Lorca is already sufficient reason for the City Council to pay tribute.
“The centenary was celebrated on July 4 and seeing that the Government team, being already in September, has not proposed any initiative in this regard, I think it is fair to ask that it carry out a series of tributes to the figure of José Luis Castillo-Puche and Moreno â€.
In this sense, Lorca states that, in case more arguments are needed, the writer has repeatedly reflected in his literature Murcia and his garden, leaving for posterity pages of great beauty.
For all these reasons, the Socialist councilor urges the Government team of the City of Murcia to, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth, perform different acts to honor the figure of the writer José Luis Castillo-Puche y Moreno and do not miss this opportunity of remembering one of his adopted children.
The socialist mayor believes that the City Council could count on the Castillo-Puche Foundation for the tribute acts of the writer, “it is an entity that has been promoting the name of Castillo-Puche for a long time, among the employers it has representatives of the writer's family and outstanding specialist in his work, so I think it is a foundation that should be counted in some way if what we want is to honor his centenary. â€
Lorca offers some ideas in this regard: “they could, for example, dedicate a street of the municipality, or highlight the work and the figure of the writer in the programming of the Book Fair that is held next October.
You could also organize a photographic exhibition on Castillo-Puche or exhibit your work in prominent areas of the municipal libraries, including organizing round tables that analyze your work or talk about your career ... â€.
“The options are multiple, the important thing is that your figure is recognized and that the City Council is committed to personalities that should be a pride for the municipality.
Dropping them into oblivion would be a big mistake, as well as a sign of the lack of support from the government team for our culture, â€concludes the councilor.
