The professor of Optics of the University of Murcia Pablo Artal received yesterday, September 17, the prestigious Edgar D. Tillyer prize awarded by the Optics Society (OSA), in a ceremony that took place in Washington DC.
The OSA has awarded this award to Artal for the development of innovative techniques applicable to vision, from the point of view of ophthalmology and biomedicine.
In addition, he considers that he has pioneered important advances in the methods of studying eye functioning and has contributed substantially to the understanding of the factors that limit human visual resolution.
The OSA values ​​that, thanks to its work, instruments and devices currently in clinical use have been developed.
The Edgar D. Tillyer Prize has been awarded since 1953 to those who have done significant work in the field of vision.
The Optical Society is an organization dedicated to research and education in the field of Optics.
It was founded in 1916, in Rochester (New York), and is headquartered in Washington.
The OSA has more than 20,000 members and is present in more than 100 countries.
