Murcia by Bike understands Bike Week as an opportunity to rethink the mobility model of our city and to express to our leaders the need to bet firmly on a friendly city, reducing space to the private motor vehicle and favoring traction movements Human and public transport.
And, as the motto of his manifesto this year, healthy mobility is not an option.
The activities begin on Wednesday, September 18 with the self-managed workshop, which anyone can approach to get their bike ready.
It will be in the Urban Garden of Santa Eulalia from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
On Friday September 20 we will have a double appointment.
From 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the Parking Day will take place in Almeda de Colón, next to the Floridablanca garden, an event in which citizens of all ages take parking lots to claim more public spaces for those pedestrians
Subsequently, from 19 to 21:00 the documentary "On wheels: the dream of the car" will be screened at the Regional Film Library, with the aim of promoting citizen reflection on our way of moving.
After the screening there will be a debate for which we will have the Director of the documentary, Oscar Clemente and the journalist Mónica Rubio-biologist.
On Saturday, September 21, a bike ride through the Barrio del Carmen and Puente Tocinos will encourage residents of Murcia and the surrounding area to travel sustainably through different local businesses, enjoying our cuisine.
Those who go by bike will enjoy discounts on consumption.
The week closes on Sunday, September 22, with a great bicifestation for the "European Day without cars", in which all Murcians are summoned to travel the city by bicycle for Health, the Environment and security.
The bicifestation will end in the Gran Vía, where the awards awarded every year by Murcia in Bici will be awarded to people and institutions of the municipality.
In addition, in the next few weeks the IX Tour of the Mar Menor will take place, which was scheduled for last weekend and that has had to be postponed as a result of heavy rains.
