The UCAM has been shown in recent years as a pioneer university in the 'esports' sector showing its involvement, collaborating with different clubs and actively participating in training and research related to this sector.
Now, the Catholic University takes a qualitative leap by incorporating the Penguins Esports club, which will be renamed UCAM Penguins in all its professional modalities.
The motto with which this club will compete from now on will be #GoUCAM.
In addition, the creation of UCAM Penguins Academy in its amateur modalities is projected, with the absorption of the UCAM Lenovo team in it.
Tao Martínez, Strategy Director of UCAM Esports, says that Penguins' choice to make this entry to the professional plot has not been accidental: "We have worked hard for this agreement because the objectives and trajectory of the club are based on the same values that the university defined at the beginning of its 'Esports' department: training, sustainability and work ".
The project will also be led by Marco Mourao, current CEO and founder of Penguins, who will maintain and expand its functions within the structure of UCAM Esports: "We face the future with great enthusiasm, having now all the support of an institution that will allow us continue to grow without renouncing our main mission The UCAM is a leading entity in sports training and involvement, which fits perfectly with what we have been doing in recent years. It opens up many possibilities, such as bringing professionals to play with us while continue their studies. "
In addition, the League of Legends team will be trained by Cristian "Future" Duarte, one of the best-known faces of the national competitive scene after his time as a commentator and analyst at the LVP.
The next step will be to move the club structure to the UCAM headquarters in Murcia.
At the same time, new strategic alliances are being closed to give continuity to the work carried out during the last years by both entities, improving competitiveness and promoting the 'Esports' sector.
