The City Council, through the Service of Parks and Gardens, is finalizing the cleaning works of the scuppers of its more than one thousand green areas before the forecast of heavy rains, issued by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
The scuppers are the necessary drainage element to keep the green spaces in good condition.
The technicians perform these works periodically and whenever there is a risk of heavy rains, the work intensifies.
"We have proceeded to revisit the scuppers, especially in those areas where heavy rainfall can cause significant flooding, dragging and flooding," said the Councilor for Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén, who has come this morning to supervise the work in the Artillery Barracks.
According to the AEMET, this Wednesday they could reach 15 liters per square meter in one hour (yellow level warning) and tomorrow they can reach 70 liters in one hour (red level warning).
This is a new episode of cold drop known as the DANA (Isolated Depression in High Levels).
In this way, the Parks and Gardens service is cleaning the scuppers so that these facilities are in perfect condition.
The actions consist of eliminating the possible leaves, residues or earth that are inside and that can block them and thus be prepared for any specific rainy episode.
