The University of Murcia and the Morsli Abdellah University Center of Tipaza (Algeria) have signed a general action protocol on Monday to establish links that allow the development of joint activities in the fields of research, teaching and cultural activities.
Alejandro Quevedo, initiator of the protocol and professor of Archeology of the UMU, explained that this collaboration will allow to know first hand the archaeological reality of Tipaza, "a coastal town that preserves the remains of the ancient Punic-Roman city of Tipasa, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO ".
"Its geographical proximity to the Hispanic southeast and, specifically, to the Region of Murcia, make it especially interesting to study significant archaeological parallels between both areas," he added.
The professor has also highlighted the enormous possibilities that the creation of this collaborative framework entails for the University of Murcia, which will allow to open innovative lines of research, meet the formative demand of the students, as well as improve the interpretation of the archaeological heritage of the two regions
Rafik Khellaf, representative of the Morsli Abdellah University Center of Tipaza, has been very pleased to establish this collaboration both for the interest of linking both shores and on a pedagogical level.
Rector Luján has closed the event, which has expressed the desire and involvement to reinforce, this new course, the internationalization of the University of Murcia as one of the priority lines of action.
