The Councilor for Urban Agenda and Open Government, Mercedes Bernabé, held a meeting this morning with the Vice Chancellor for Internationalization of the University of Murcia, María Senena Corbalán, in order to strengthen and promote some of the collaborations of both institutions.
"We have tried several agreements with the purpose of promoting international mobility and ensuring that Murcia continues to consolidate itself as a university city," said the councilor.
In this way, the City Council will collaborate with the institutional act of the Welcome of the International Students in the Romea Theater, which will be held on September 20.
"After the ceremony, students will visit the city to familiarize themselves with their new destination and get to know the most emblematic places in Murcia," highlights Mercedes Bernabé.
In addition, the city will host in February the 250 Fulbright American scholars who are studying in Spain at their annual meeting organized, this time, by the University of Murcia, "thus giving more visibility to Murcia, as a university city."
The 'Erasmus in Shools' project will also be promoted with Secondary Education students of the municipality, in which international students will exchange their experiences with the locals.
"In this way, we break barriers and intercultural prejudices and bring Europe closer to young people."
Other topics that have been addressed are the possibility of implementing the Erasmus Practices, opening the doors of the City Council to foreign students to carry out practices in the different municipal services.
Likewise, the strengthening of relations with the University of Genoa in the framework of the twinning with the city has been discussed, as well as the concern to facilitate the accommodation of future students who come to Murcia, offering them a bag of flats and / or residence University
"We continue to strengthen our collaboration with the University of Murcia, promoting new agreements that encourage student participation and helping to consolidate Murcia as a destination city for foreign students," he concludes.
