Councilwoman Carmen Fructuoso says that “at this point in the year it would be more operational and effective, also more honest for the citizens, to bet on the 2020 Budget, the 2019 one makes no sense because no investment is going to be made”
The Socialist Municipal Group warns that the City Council of Murcia continues to operate due to the extension of the 2018 Budget. For now, the one corresponding to 2019, “we are still waiting for it with enough expectation and, in addition, for months,” explains Councilwoman Carmen Fructuoso, who states that, "even presenting it this September, it will not be operational until the last quarter of 2019 and in that short time it is materially impossible to execute a single investment."
“It is going to be an impractical budget, especially if we take into account that the one of 2018, stretched until today, which is the first budget of PP and Citizens, when they were still suitors, has served to execute 23 million euros, of the € 36M pledged, and many are to finance projects carried over from previous years, even some were hanging since 2005, ”says Fructuoso.
In addition, in this regard, remember that of those 23 million, a total of € 4.9 million are really investment projects corresponding to 2018 and, if we cut this last amount, it turns out that € 1.9 million are investments made by the mayors Pedáneos (the PSOE presided over 23 municipal boards) and the remaining € 3M are investments made by all the councils of the City of Murcia.
Likewise, it must be taken into account that the Alfonso X pedestrianization project has led to an expense of € 1.6M in 2018, so “in the end, really, the councils have invested only € 1.3M, less than the boards municipal ”.
Therefore, he states that "we fail to understand the returns that the government team is giving to the 2019 Budget to finally invest less than the pedáneos."
In this regard, he concludes that “all this is the result of this way of managing the PP, based solely and exclusively on inertia.
There are no innovative, creative or useful bets that improve the quality of life of our citizens alike, that continue to see pollution, public transport, lack of services or unemployment as their big problems, and for this there are no projects of the dimension of Murcia Río or Alfonso X ”.
For all this, the Socialist councilor insists that “by now, September 3, it would be more operational and effective, also more honest for citizens, to bet on the 2020 budget, especially if we consider that when the of 2019 pass all the procedures until its final approval will be valid during the Christmas week, so this will be a blank year due to lack of capacity and forecast of the Government of Ballesta ”.
