The City Council carries out a plan for regular and preventive maintenance of traffic light regulations in order to provide their service efficiently, quickly and safely.
The Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, has visited this morning the work that is being undertaken between Almela Costa Street and the Media Markt roundabout.
The municipality has 517 traffic light intersections with which a large network is created that covers both neighborhoods and districts.
Of these, “40% are sensed and centralized with the traffic control room, allowing to regulate these intersections to achieve more sustainable mobility depending on many factors, such as traffic at all times, levels of environmental pollution, accident of traffic and events in the city, among others â€, highlights the mayor.
The maintenance actions focus on repainting, when needed, and on the cleaning of each of the parts of the installation: head, optical units, visor, supports and cabinets, thus guaranteeing its reliability and preventing its deterioration.
The replacement of the old incandescent lamps from the network by LED technology for light signaling is also contemplated, “since they have an estimated 50 times higher life, and therefore generate significant energy and maintenance savings, satisfying the objective of achieving greater efficiency and road safety â€.
Specifically, today, the traffic service is working between Calle Almela Costa, Media-Mark roundabout and Avenida de los Dolores.
“Cleaning work is carried out in traffic light installations with special care to protect them and prevent their deterioration, also to repaint the horizontal signage, both in neighborhoods and in districts, with the aim of improving their perception and therefore the safety of all public road users â€.
The repainting works of the signage will be extended in September to the districts of Cabezo de Torres, Monteagudo, Valladolises, Lobosillo, Los Martinez del Puerto, Cabezo de la Plata, Zeneta and San Ginés.
Meanwhile, the maintenance work of the traffic light installations will continue during the month of September (Puente Tocinos, Zarandona, Distrito Norte), October (Santiago and Zaraiche, Santiago el Mayor, Barrio del Progreso, Patiño and Los Dolores), November (Aljucer, San José de la Vega, Beniaján, Algezares, La Alberca and El Palmar) and December (Sangonera la Verde, San Ginés, Nonduermas, La Raya, Corvera, Los Martínez del Puerto, Avileses, Sucina and Cañadas de San Pedro ).
