The main purpose of the meeting is the phenomenon of unwanted loneliness in the elderly, since it is felt as one of the most important problems that requires public attention and that has led to initiatives aimed at fighting against this unwanted situation, from local entities and autonomous communities as reflected in the approaches of the conference.
The data that IMSERSO manages on the situation of the elderly in our country, indicates that 22.37% occupy a sole proprietorship, which is mainly formed when widowhood ensues and the person who experiences it remains at home, since without company.

Some 2,714 people are over 80 years old, 2,271 are older than 85 and 1,187 are over 90, and they all live alone.
"These are worrying data that require a serious analysis and approach to address a transcendental issue that responds to the change in the model of society we are experiencing," said Paqui Pérez.
