The entire staff of the Local Police will ensure the safety of Murcia and tourists during the September Fair (28/08/2019)

The City Council, in collaboration with the Local Police Corps, organizes the Special Protection Device, so that residents and tourists enjoy the holidays without incident.

Agents will place special emphasis on mass events, such as the descent of the Virgin and the Romería.The Fairground of La Fica will be controlled with patrols constantly;

the parades of Moors and Christians and the Orchards and medieval camps of the Malecon will also be monitored.

The City Council, in collaboration with the Local Police Corps, organizes the Special Protection Device, so that residents and tourists enjoy the holidays without incident.

Agents will place special emphasis on mass events, such as the descent of the Virgin and the Pilgrimage.

The Fairground of La Fica will be controlled with patrols constantly;

the parades of Moors and Christians and the Orchards and medieval camps of the Malecon will also be monitored.

The Councilor for Citizen Security and Economic Management, together with the Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, the Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez and the Councilor for Commerce, Markets and Public Road, Juan Fernando Hernández, attended today the meeting of the Local Security Board, in which the Special Protection Device was detailed, in order to guarantee the safety of Murcia and visitors who attend the Fair, starting next September 5.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Local Police, Fire, Civil Protection, Civil Guard, National Police and the Service of Celebrations.

The Plan, elaborated with the objective that the parties take place without any incidents, is divided into six sections:

1. Constant patrols and a mobile office in La Fica

A special security device will constantly be in charge of patrolling the La Fica Fairgrounds, consisting of 14 police officers, who will be equipped with a police vest to facilitate identification.

Likewise, a Mobile Office will be installed at the entrance of the enclosure, which will serve as a point of reference and information for the public, enabling the provision of the services required by the visitor.

The Fire, Civil Protection and Red Cross services will be involved in this office.

2. A deployment of more than 200 agents during the Pilgrimage.

Next Tuesday, September 17, during one of the most massive events of the September Fair, the Pilgrimage, the Department of Public Safety will deploy all its available troops.

From the first hour of the morning, a safety device will be established, which will cut traffic when the situation requires it.

The services of Firefighters, Civil Protection and Environmental Agents will also be present.

Likewise, throughout the Pilgrimage the Local Police Corps will deploy equipment destined to escort the procession, and to control traffic and monitor the city, as well as the environment and access to the Sanctuary.

A deployment of more than 200 agents will develop these functions.

Next to the esplanade of the Sanctuary, in addition, a mobile Citizen Attention Office of the Local Police of Murcia will be installed, from the dawn of September 17.

On the occasion of the ascent of the Virgin to her Sanctuary, the following routes will be cut to traffic:

-Access to the Sanctuary from Algezares (from the Health Center), and from the crossing of the Los Teatinos Urbanization (except residents), from the evening of the previous day, Monday, the 16th.

-The road that joins El Charco square, in Santo Ángel, with Algezares, from 7 am.

Conversely, from Algezares to the Pool, it will be cut at 8 hours.

In this area, traffic will be allowed again when the processional entourage is in the Calle Ascent to the Sanctuary of Fuensanta and the influx of public permits.

-In the hamlet of La Alberca, the ascent to El Valle (from the access crossing to the Lost Valley) will be cut, starting at 7.00.

-The MU-302 road, at the height of the Los Garres gas station, in this direction towards Algezares, will be cut after 8.00, except for buses, which will reach the church of Algezares.

In the Romería, in addition, the use of public transport is recommended, which will stop in Murcia, in the Alameda de Colón, and will circulate to Pintor Antonio Roca Martínez street, in Algezares.

When the procession of the Virgin passes, they will return to Murcia.

During the climb, parking on the Algezares - Los garres road (MU-302) will be prohibited.

3. Vigilance in the parades of Moors and Christians

The Local Police will cut traffic during the parades of Moors and Christians, enabling temporary detours through the main rounds of the city.

The main parades will pass through Plaza Martínez Tornel, the San Francisco Plane and the Gran Via Salzillo, among other streets.

About 40 police officers will work on this device.

4. Crowd acts

During the Fair, the Local Police Corps will also ensure the safety of those attending mass events, such as concerts and shows.

The agents will be equipped with a reflective police vest that facilitates their identification.

Specifically, 35 agents will be in charge of controlling the macroconcert of the Fiestas.

5. More than 20 agents will control the orchards and medieval camps in the Jardin del Malecón

Another device consisting of 25 agents will ensure security in the Garden of the Malecon, in the orchards and in the medieval camp, where another Mobile Police Attention Office will be installed in order to bring the services of the Local Police to the neighbors and visitors who come to this partying area.

This device will complement the protection service performed by foot patrols.

The Office, which will be installed at the accesses to the Malecon fairgrounds, will serve as an information, protection and assistance point.

Your customer service schedule will coincide with that of the scheduled events.

6. Ordinary services in the festive events that require it

In all festive events in which there is a large concentration of people there will be a police presence, ensuring the development of the act and controlling traffic.

Installation of Violet Points during the Fair

Like last year, Violeta Points will be installed during the September Fair, in which information and advice on gender violence will be given.

Specifically, they will be installed in the San Francisco Plan (from September 5 to 16), at the Murcia Park Auditorium (September 9), at the La Fica Fairgrounds (September 10), at the Fofó Park Auditorium (September 13 and 14), at the Lemon Pop Festival (September 24), in the dissuasive car park located on Calle Mayor Gaspar de la Peña (September 13 and 14), and at the Nueva Condomina shopping center September 16 ).

16 civilian policemen will be deployed in the agglomerations

As a complement to the Special Fair Device, and to increase the efficiency of the ordinary service, 16 non-uniformed agents will attend the festive events: the Fairgrounds (4), the Los Huertos surroundings (4) and the large parades (8 ).

Especially, security will be guaranteed during festive events in which agglomerations are usually formed, in order to prevent theft and robbery, among other crimes.

Almost 50 police officers will control the descent of the Virgin to the Cathedral

On September 5, the descent of the Virgen de la Fuensanta to Murcia will begin around 3:30 pm, from the Sanctuary of the Patroness.

Specifically, the itinerary will be as follows: Fuensanta Sanctuary, Fuensanta Sanctuary Street, Fuensanta Sanctuary Street, MU-302, Saavedra Fajardo Street, Algezares Road, El Progreso Neighborhood, Ronda Sur, Pintor Almela Street Coast, Torre de Romo street and Princesa street (Iglesia del Carmen).

Almost 50 police officers will be in charge of controlling the descent of the Virgin.

Around 19.30, it is planned to arrive at the Church of Carmen, where it will be received and will begin its journey to the Cathedral of Murcia, by the Alameda de Colón, Puente Viejo, Plaza Martínez Tornel, C / Tomás Maestre, Glorieta de España ( City Hall Gate), C / Arenal and Plaza Cardenal Belluga (Cathedral Church).

In this great celebration, traffic will be cut at the following times:

-About 16 hours, Saavedra Fajardo de Algezares street (RM 302) will be cut, diverting traffic from La Alberca through Pintor Antonio Roca Martínez street to the South Coast.

The traffic coming from Beniaján, punctual deviation through Carril Aliagas and cutting until the entourage pass in Plaza Juan XXIII de Algezares.

-About 16:30 hours, punctual cuts will be made in Barrio del Progreso, Ronda Sur, Calle Pintor Almela Costa and Torre de Romo.

-At 18:30 hours, traffic will be cut in the surroundings of the Church of Carmen, during the reception of the Authorities on the arrival of Our Lady of Fuensanta.

Vehicles from Alcantarilla and El Palmar will be diverted to Juan Antonio Perea Avenue;

those coming from the Paseo Marqués de Corvera towards Plaza González Conde, will be diverted to Floridablanca Street, traffic from Princesa Street will be diverted to Torre de Romo;

the one coming from Proclamation Street towards Torre de Romo and Princesa streets;

Cartagena street traffic will exit through Gracia street, and traffic arriving from Canalejas avenue will be diverted to Hernández del Águila street.

About 18:30 hours, from the departure of the delegation to the Cathedral, traffic will be cut in the following ways: from Fuensanta Square to Gran Vía Escultor Salzillo, from Miguel Caballero Bridge to Martínez Tornel Square, and the Plano from San Francisco to Martínez Tornel square.

Likewise, the circulation of vehicles of more than 3,500 kilos will be prohibited during the following days:

-From September 5 to September 17, inclusive, on May First Avenue (from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the next day);

the interior perimeter of the streets Isaac Albéniz, Primo de Rivera, Circular plaza, Ronda de Levante, Rector José Loustau, Bishop Frutos, Ronda de Garay, Paseo de Garay, Red Cross square, Lieutenant Flomesta, Martínez Tornel square, Plano from San Francisco, Mayor Gaspar de la Peña, Juan de la Cierva, García Alix, San Andrés and San Antón (between 5:00 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. the next day, except on the 16th, which will start the ban on the same time but will end at 07:00 hours on day 17).

- On September 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., in the following streets: Floridablanca, Marqués de Corvera, Cartagena,

Princess, Torre de Romo, Infante don Juan Manuel, Lieutenant Flomesta, Plano de San Francisco, Gran Vía Sculptor Francisco Salzillo and all the access roads to those mentioned.

- On September 14, from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on the following day, in the following streets: Torre de Romo, Floridablanca,

Cartagena, Marquis de Corvera, Princess, Infante Don Juan Manuel, Segura River, Lieutenant Flomesta, Plano de San Francisco, Gran Vía Alfonso X el Sabio, Constitution, Marcos Redondo, Acisclo Díaz, Maestro Alonso and all the access roads to them .

- On September 17, from 07:00 to 09:30 hours, in the streets: Gran Vía Sculptor Salzillo, Lieutenant Flomesta, San Francisco Map, Infante Don Juan Manuel, Princesa, Romo Tower, Marquis de Corvera , Floridablanca, Cartagena, Mozart, San Juan de la Cruz, Painter Almela Costa, Painter Pedro Flores and all the streets of access to them.

Vehicles intended for public passenger transport will be exempted from this prohibition.
