The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, has convened this morning an urgent meeting in which the special security device has been addressed before the orange alert due to heavy rains that the State Meteorological Agency has declared in Murcia from last night until this afternoon at 6 pm
The State Meteorological Agency yesterday raised the orange level its warning of adverse weather events due to rains planned for this Tuesday, until 18.00, which can reach 40 liters per square meter in one hour in Vega del Segura, Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón and Guadalentín Valley, Lorca and Águilas.
At the work meeting, which was attended by councilors of the Government team, the coordination device between Murcia Firefighters, Local Police, Civil Protection, Aguas de Murcia, the lighting service, cleaning, urban planning, the Service has been established of Mobile Emergency and Social Assistance (SEMAS), as well as parks and gardens.
At the moment, the day goes by without incident and more than 500 troops are prepared to work on the possible damages that may be caused by the episode of heavy rainfall.

The Local Police operational units, both for city and districts, will periodically review, in accordance with the progress of rainfall, all those places where risks arise from water accumulations or cuts of roads and streets due to the existence of waterways or natural passages of rainwater.
A total of 119 members of the Local Police make up this special device for atmospheric phenomena, which began last night and continues until the afternoon of today.
The Civil Protection service and the Operational Groups of Volunteers of Murcia and Pedanías are on alert, located and with monitoring of the meteorological phenomenon, according to AEMET.
The operation is made up of a total of 24 volunteers.
As for firefighters, the usual 37 who are working during the holiday period, will be in total around 60 after the activation of orange alert for rain.
The work team that Aguas de Murcia will have to face the possible incidents arising from the expected rainfall will be a total of 98 people, from 00.00 yesterday to 18.00 this afternoon.
It will also have a deployment of special means available to the emergency, such as specialized vehicles, electric trucks, generator sets of different powers and portable pumping group for bilges, among others.
The maintenance service of Public Lighting will be reinforcing with the performance of 4 work teams equipped with truck with lifting platform, crane truck and assistance of 1 manager.
For its part, Parks and Gardens has carried out the review of its more than 3,000 scuppers in green areas of the municipality of Murcia.
For this special device it will have 70 workers, including municipal and STV dealership, as well as specialized vehicles.
The Traffic service will carry out a follow-up from the Traffic room, giving the appropriate instructions to the agents of the Local Police about possible problems that may alter the pace of the drivers.
The Mobile Emergency and Social Assistance Service (SEMAS) will also be on alert to meet the basic needs of people who need it.
Also from the Road Cleaning Service will modify its work program by activating the staff for the episode of heavy rains.
Thus, they will be in charge of cleaning in the city both Monday night and today a total of 70 operators, as well as 42 workers for the districts.
To this personnel we must add the machinery and extraordinary means if the circumstance requires it.
In total, the Cleaning Service has 277 pawns, 19 drivers and 104 specialist pawns for cleaning and dragging.

It will offer updated information throughout the day about the incidents that occur, cuts of the reels and warnings by rains through the Twitter channel of the Local Police (@MurciaPolicia), which will be active 24 hours †.
It is important in these hours in which the alert remains activated, not using private vehicles, not crossing the boulevards or streets with water, respecting the cut points and not establishing vehicles in flood areas, according to the Murcia Local Police.
