The Hungarian town of Szeged has been the international epicenter of canoeing during the past weekend.
The prestige of the world competition and, above all, the seats in the air for the Olympic Games were the main claims for the competitors.
In this scenario, the UCAM canoeists achieved great success by winning four medals and four Olympic places.
The person in charge of obtaining the first medal, with UCAM brand, was Sete Benavides.
The Mallorcan, a student of the Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences of the Catholic University, won, along with his partner Toni Segura, the bronze in the C2 500 meters category and the square for the next Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo .
It was followed by Teresa Portela, who reaped the bronze in the K1 200 meters category, getting the pass to what could be her sixth Olympic Games.
If so, she would become the first Spanish woman to participate in six Olympic events.
In the category of K2 1000 meters, Paco Cubelos and Ãñigo Peña were only surpassed by the Germans, obtaining the silver medal and the pass to Tokyo.
And, finally, Saúl Craviotto, Marcus Cooper and Rodrigo Germade, along with his teammate Carlos Arévalo, were runners-up in the K4 500 meters test, also winning the ticket to the Olympic Games.
In addition, the fourth place of Sete Benavides in C1 200m and the great participation of Murcia Mohssine Moutahir, who was sixth in C4 500 meters.
