The Socialist Municipal Group recently criticized the conclusions of the Labor Inspection report, which warned of several deficiencies for the normal labor development of Murcia City Council officials.
Some of these shortcomings are perfectly located in the center of Saavedra Fajardo.
There is located part of the workforce for Decentralization, Social Services and Consumer Services that works in inaccessible facilities (for them and for citizens who need their attention) and also with asbestos roofs, which for the socialist councilor Enrique Lorca is "a real nonsense" and also "a lack of respect for officials."
"Of course, for the PP to create safe and comfortable work environments is not a priority, just as it should not be of interest that the neighbors are treated in the best conditions," says Lorca, who also explains that officials are located on floors 2 and 3 (Decentralization and Social Services, 2nd floor, and Consumption, 3rd), but the elevator only reaches the second floor, so to access the third one you must use the stairs, all except people with reduced mobility.
"This violates Law 4/2017, of June 27, on universal accessibility of the Region of Murcia, article 16, but in addition, there are no toilets on the second floor, so you have to climb the stairs to those of the third, which are not enabled for people with mobility problems, which does not matter because they do not have an elevator, they cannot access in any of the ways, here the Accessibility Law is again violated, but in article 21 ".
The councilor continues to point out anomalies that violate the Law and that turn work spaces into areas of risk to health: "there are Social Services offices that do not have any windows, consist of four walls without natural light, these officials and the administrators of the Municipal Boards are crowded and in the same office there are up to four or more positions, so you cannot create any confidentiality space despite dealing with very sensitive issues. "
He adds that, "to top it off, the roof has asbestos and in some areas it is decomposing. If this is already alarming, what is absurd is that in the middle of the roof, corresponding to the Urbamusa facilities, it has been replaced for other material without health risks. "
The councilman says that "all these deficiencies have been denounced by the officials themselves, including some of them for many years, so we fail to understand how you can respond with that flagrant passivity."
