Inaugurated in 1994, the surface of the pavilion has been remodeled with the wooden floor, through actions such as stabbing, sanding and varnishing the surface.
The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, has visited the sports hall of Puente Tocinos, located in the Plaza Región Murciana of the district, where this week the remodeling of the pavement with material is being carried out Recycled and in the next few days new low-energy lighting will be installed.
The mayor of Murcia stressed that "the residents of Puente Tocinos will have a high-quality pavilion that has a capacity for 400 spectators" and added that "the center, which opened in 1994 and where sports such as futsal are practiced , handball, basketball and rhythmic gymnastics, will reopen its doors in September, after the completion of the improvement work â€.
Specifically, the City Council has allocated almost 50,000 euros to paving works and 17,427 euros to replace spotlights.
More than 1,000m2 of platform
Thanks to this work, the floor of the pavilion has been completely remodeled, with a pavement in which sports activities can be carried out properly, since until now it did not have an optimal floor.
Specifically, the replacement has been done with pavement of the old wooden floor of the Palacio de Los Deportes, through a series of actions, such as stabbing, sanding and varnishing the surface.
In total, 1,085 m2 have been remodeled with the mentioned material.
In addition, 113.94 m2 of removable platform have been acquired, with similar conditions, with which the playing surface has been extended.
A more sustainable pavilion with 30 energy efficient light bulbs
Likewise, the light projectors have been replaced by 30 LED spotlights, in order to save 75% of electricity consumption and ensure the proper functioning of the sports facility.
50 lighting screens have also been replaced with LED lights, located in the common areas of the pavilion, such as changing rooms and hallways.
To the amount of these works mentioned, of 17,427 euros, the subsidy received by the Autonomous Community of 7,000 euros is added.
In the sports center you can practice in a regulated manner the following sports: basketball, volleyball, futsal, handball and miknibasket.
It will also host rhythmic gymnastics classes.
Javalí Nuevo also opens pavilion in September
Currently, in addition, works are being carried out to remodel the Javalí Nuevo pavilion, with an amount of 47,432 euros.
Likewise, the City Council is repairing the roofs of nine municipal pavilions, eliminating the leaks they presented.
