The objective of this pilot experience promoted by the Department of Seniors, Disability and Development Cooperation is to promote coexistence and encourage commitment and mutual help between people over 65 and young families under 36
The Department of the Elderly, Disability and Development Cooperation will launch the inter-generational project 'Almajov' for the rental of 21 homes for the elderly and young people of the municipality of Murcia, in a municipal property-built in 2010- located in the la Condesa lane, 63, in Ronda Sur.
It is a pilot experience whose objective is framed in the policies of collaboration and solidarity that the council that Paqui Pérez directs will promote to promote coexistence and encourage commitment and mutual help between people over 65 and young families under 36.
These 21 homes assigned to the 'Almajov' project on a rental basis consist of:
- 14 studies with useful surfaces between 25.50 m² and 27.50 m² for people over 65 years.
They will have a bedroom, a living room and a bathroom.
Two living units will share the dining room and kitchen.
- 14 3-bedroom homes intended for use by family units of young people, consisting of two to six members, with two being the maximum number of adults allowed.
Requirements
In the case of the elderly, individuals, couples, marriages, two siblings or with some kind of relationship between them may access these studies.
The economic income cannot exceed 1.5% of the IPREM.
The rental price will range between 100 and 150 euros per month.
Regarding the profile of young families under 36 with their dependents, and single parents, also with dependent children, and an economic income of between 1.5% and 2.5% of the IPREM.
In this case the rental price will be between 250 and 350 euros per month.
In addition, neither of these two groups may have a home owned or in usufruct, they will have to be registered in the municipality of Murcia at least two years before the call and not have outstanding debts with the City of Murcia.
Process
The basis for accessing this public call, which will have two different procedures, one aimed at young families and the other at older, will be published in the coming months.
An opening period and a specific scale for each group will also be opened.
If the number of applications turns out to be greater than the number of homes to be awarded, two public raffles will be held, one for young people and one for the elderly, which will allow selecting those who will finally participate in the final award process.
Waiting lists will also be established.
Likewise, the social section of the Housing service will carry out a personalized interview with the selected families and individuals that will allow them to assess, among other issues, the coexistence skills and abilities, the interest and motivation to participate in a novel project of mutual collaboration between elders and young people, empathy and degree of involvement in the activities that are scheduled, as well as experience in community and / or social work and volunteering.
Common social commitment
One of the most novel aspects of the 'Almajov' project is that the final winners of the 21 homes will have to sign, together with the lease, a document called 'Common Social Commitment', which will be renewed annually, with which they commit to participate in the different cultural, social, educational and labor activities that are scheduled;
and those others related to mutual collaboration.
Likewise, the tenants will be obliged to comply with the Internal Regulation of Neighborhood Coexistence for the maintenance, care and respect of the common spaces.
This project is the first of a series of initiatives that, in this regard, will continue to promote the Housing service through the Department of Seniors, Disability and Cooperation led by Councilor Paqui Pérez.
