Solidarity gesture of the taxi drivers of Murcia with the Abandoned Jesus Foundation (30/07/2019)

The Abandoned Jesus Foundation has received a donation in cash as well as different office supplies, among which three computers and several printers and a water dispenser from the offices of the Teletaxi Murcia association stand out, closed every time their union has taken place with RadioTaxi.

As explained by both associations, now integrated into one, in recent dates this merger was decided "with the aim of improving service to the citizens of Murcia."

The president of Abandoned Jesus, José Moreno, highlights this solidarity gesture of Teletaxi, "an association that has collaborated in a very active way with us, providing a much needed service and help", and that he hopes that after joining Radio Taxi "your associates want to keep on keeping it".

Moreno accompanied Sergio Navarro, president of Radio Taxi, Francisco López, secretary of the association, Francisco José Martínez, president of the dissolved Teletaxi, and Andrés Belchí, also of this entity, on a visit to the facilities of the Social Hall of Jesus Abandoned in the center of Murcia.

Thus, he points out that in the last three years "a series of solidarity taxi drivers have transferred the people in our Shelter Center of the Santa Catalina Road to hospitals and special health centers for different treatments such as dialysis and chemotherapy."

On the other hand, "through a special rate, our users of the Emploa program, co-financed by the European Social Funds in 80% percent and 20 percent by the Autonomous Community have also been taken and picked up from their workplace of the Region of Murcia, through the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS), and the Incorpora program, developed in collaboration with the Social Work of 'la Caixa' ".

In addition, "this association has been conducting annual campaigns among its taxi drivers to collect clothing and food to donate to the Foundation."

"All this help with those who have less is an example that demonstrates that the common and solidary effort is not only a value to spread but also an effective action for the fight in favor of social inclusion."

Radio Taxi has remained since July 2019 as the majority entity in the sector after closing its merger with Teletaxi, active for the past 36 years.

The Abandoned Jesus Foundation, which develops its work in the Region of Murcia together with the Hospital Order of San Juan de Dios, offers comprehensive care that includes from the prevention and satisfaction of basic needs to access a home or a job.

In 2018, the Jesús Abandonado Murcia Foundation attended more than 4000 different people, in an individualized, continuous and integral way through a multidisciplinary team formed by more than 400 volunteers and professionals that include social workers, educators, psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, nurses and assistants, podiatrists, dentists or gynecologists, trainers, counselors and job prospectors.
