The first Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Development, Mario Gomez, today held a meeting with more than a hundred contractors, construction entrepreneurs and associations and federations of the service sector to present the objectives of the Department that directs and set criteria in a subject as important as the execution of public works and services and their contracting.
The person in charge of Development, who has been accompanied by the president of the Regional Federation of Construction Entrepreneurs, José Hernández, the head of the municipal works and projects office and the head of the Contracts section, has transferred businessmen and contractors who "From his council and in collaboration with the officials, the dysfunctions and risks that may arise from the contracting system are being analyzed and with the utmost respect for the Public Sector Contract Law."
"We will take all precautions and measures to prevent municipal public procurement from being under suspicion again," said Mario Gomez.

He also highlighted the relevance of this meeting because "it will help us develop synergies of work between the companies that perform work and services for the local administration and the councilor and officials of the various services involved in the preparation of the specifications, award and monitoring of contracts ".
For Mario Gómez, "it is essential that the local administration aims to offer the best service in a transparent and efficient way to citizens."
In this line, he said that "from the Department of Development, we will work tirelessly so that the City of Murcia becomes an example of transparency and rigor in the awarding processes after the years of negative news we have had."

Transparency, agility and competitive concurrence
In this way, those present have been directed to "work together, side by side, in a common objective: that all public procurement processes of this administration be clean and transparent, and that competitive bidding of bidders be guaranteed, without exception".

Anti-bribery system and complaints channel

In addition to implementing an anti-bribery management system with the implementation of ISO 37001 and a complaints channel that allows us to prevent and avoid possible risks of bribery and favor treatment.
Finally, the person in charge of Development has also emphasized another of his big bets: the real speeding up of the procedures and deadlines for licenses and authorizations for works.
"This is the way if we want to make the City Council become an administration at the service of citizens, capable of solving problems, instead of putting obstacles and generating them," he concluded.
