Elena Martínez, graduated in Biology from the University of Murcia, has won one of the forty-five scholarships granted by La Caixa to do a doctorate in the USA.
The field in which he will develop his thesis is immunology, and more specifically, in cancer immunotherapy.
"These treatments are intended to stimulate our own immune system to be the one that directly attacks the tumor cells," says the researcher.
It is a general scholarship that is not linked to any specific American university, so it will be the beneficiary herself who will have to apply for a place in different universities to begin her studies in August 2020.
The scholarship covers the first two years of the doctoral studies and the rest will be financed by the destination university to which the student finally accesses.
