The Independent Authority of Fiscal Responsibility (Airef) has made its last report on July 18 in which determines the objectives of budgetary stability, public debt and expenditure rule of public administrations.
Thus, an individualized study of compliance with fiscal rules has been carried out in the 24 large local corporations, taking into account their population, the size of their budgets and the relative importance of certain income or expense items in the subsector as a whole.
Airef foresees that the City of Murcia complies with the budgetary stability and spending rule for 2019 and detects high risks of non-compliance in municipalities such as Madrid, Las Palmas or Córdoba, as well as making recommendations to the city councils of Barcelona and Seville that failed to comply with the expenditure rule in 2018.
As conclusions on compliance with the fiscal rules in the City of Murcia, Airef determines that in 2019 a surplus of 8 million euros will be achieved, the spending rule will be met as well as the debt will be reduced despite the imputation of the tram debt.
Councilman Martínez-Oliva expresses his "satisfaction because one more year, despite the difficulties, the rigor in the management of public accounts is being recognized by a body as important as Airef,
"We believe that a public administration is like one's house, where we can not spend more than we have, without forgetting that our functions give the best public services to our citizens and try to make it at the most reasonable cost, since the income with which these are made come from the taxes paid by Murcia, "the councilor concluded.
