Antonio Benito, socialist councilor, denounces that "the City is ignoring the requests of the neighbors and offering a lame solution that will harm the district."

The Department of Education and Nursery Schools took a month ago the decision to provisionally close the public school of Algezares for not meeting the proper conditions of safety for children.

As a temporary solution, the Murcia City Council then offered to use the facilities of the old El Lugarico children's school in El Palmar.

To solve the transfer of students from Algezares the City Council has proposed the use of a bus.

The Municipal Socialist Group has contacted a group of parents of the affected municipal children's school to learn about the situation in the first person.

"Parents are very concerned about the situation of their school, because in less than two months the new course begins and the only option that is being given to them is that the children are taken care of outside their town. the only alternative offered by the Department, put a bus for transfers, does not convince anyone, "says socialist councilor, Antonio Benito, after having a meeting with some of those affected accompanied by the socialist councilor María Teresa Franco.

Benito affirms that the right thing is for this public service to continue taking place in Algezares itself.

"The parents were thinking about several solutions, such as enabling provisional classrooms, separated from the student body, at the Saavedra Fajardo Public School, or taking advantage of the currently disused facilities of a private daycare center.We ask for any provisional solution that is technically viable and that does not suppose to remove to the children of its town, but to day of today the team of government of Murcia insists on its idea of ​​the transfer ", explains Benito.

"In my opinion, displacing half a hundred children on a daily basis by bus without accompanying them is not viable, rather it seems a plan destined to fail, who knows if the idea that a fall in demand justifies the future closing of the Algezares children's school ".

The socialist councilor insists that the future of this public service, so necessary for the family reconciliation of many families, must be fully insured: "We believe that instead of spending money to rehabilitate a disused child school that money is destined to repair As soon as possible the current infant school or even build a new one in Algezares itself, besides the cost should not be raised because currently it serves about 50 children, we are not talking about building a skyscraper, "he says.

"From the municipal socialist group we are going to be vigilant, defending the continuity of the municipal nursery school in Algezares, one of the few in the municipality of Murcia, and in the recent electoral campaign we defended the opening of new centers in the municipality. We know that this is not a priority for Ballesta's new team, but we ask that, at least, the future of the existing ones not be compromised, so we are going to present initiatives that help both solve the short-term problem of the relocation of minors in the town as soon as possible to dispose of a suitable and nearby place to provide this public service so necessary for citizenship.I have also requested an urgent meeting with the councilor to move the petitions of the neighbors, whose opinion should be decisive to when deciding what should be done with your school, "says the councilor.
