The Mayor José Ballesta has assured that "the project of the Fortresses of the King Wolf will turn Murcia into a national benchmark of Medieval Spain that will surpass the current generation of Murcia and Murcia, since it involves a total transformation of the municipality in the coming years "
"It's a historical, archaeological, environmental, educational and touristic plan, both of generating wealth and of knowledge, since universities are involved," adds Ballesta.
This strategic initiative has already started and started after the acquisition of Castillejo de Monteagudo to recover all this emblematic environment for the municipality of Murcia that covers more than one and a half million square meters.
Ballesta stressed that "one of the most important elements of 'The Fortresses of the Wolf King' is the agreement between the three administrations: State, Community and City Council for the development and management of all this work, thanks to which they will recover more of 150 archaeological sites, in 4 monuments declared of Cultural Interest such as the Castle of Monteagudo, the Castillejo, the castle of Larache and the castle of Cabezo de Torres ".
With the beginning of Phase I of the restoration of Monteagudo Castle, the following works will be carried out for the consolidation of the Castle, the execution of new accesses and roads, the restoration of the wall canvases and the illumination of the Christ of Monteagudo;
all under an archaeological follow-up.
It is a unique environment, located in the heart of the Huerta de Murcia, which will become a large archaeological park in Monteagudo and Cabezo de Torres with a pioneering center of archaeological research, with planting of various plant species to recover these monuments of the twelfth century , creating a unique historical itinerary.
Inspection visits will start next Thursday
We must remember that the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, met yesterday with the architect and director of the Murcian company A3A, Francisco J. Sánchez, and the restorer Pilar Vallalta, who lead the multidisciplinary team that will undertake the Phase I of restoration of Monteagudo Castle.
The next works that are going to be carried out include the consolidation of the Castle, the execution of new accesses and roads, the restoration of the canvases of the wall and the illumination of the Christ of Monteagudo;

During the meeting, the protocol of visits and inspections to the monument was established, in collaboration with the City Council, by the multidisciplinary team of specialists, among whom are technicians, historians, experts in archeology, restoration and geology, "all rooted in the Region of Murcia and very excited in this intervention of great responsibility ", have pointed out from the company.
Specifically, it will be from next Thursday when the visits begin to inspect the monument and thus be able to relabel the project, which has a period of 4 months of writing and 8 of execution.
