The team, made up of students and professors of the Degree in Telecommunications Systems Engineering, competes with their ecological car in the most important international tournament in this field, which is being held this week in London.
The UCAM Racing Team is already in London to participate, for the eighth time, in the Shell Eco-marathon, an international tournament that takes place from Wednesday to Friday, and is considered one of the most important in the world in car design. ecological and low energy consumption.
Rafael Melendreras, vice-dean of the Degree in Telecommunication Systems Engineering, explained that for this race the car has a very important variation, since "we have changed its electrical characteristics to work at 48 volts, reducing the current flowing through the cables , which makes the energy consumption is lower "important feature in this type of racing, since it improves the autonomy of the vehicle.
To achieve this, all the car's electronics, batteries and gears have been changed so that it maintains the same speed.
The team of the Catholic University of Murcia, sponsored this year by Hero, Jimar, ElPozo, Estrella de Levante and Schweppes, is composed of students of the Degree in Telecommunications Systems Engineering and professors, forming a multidisciplinary group aimed at achieving the best performance possible.
