The forecast that they continue to rise has led the City Council and the concessionaire STV Gestión to make in-depth reviews of the ten ficus that houses the Floridablanca Garden in Murcia.
If the yellow alert is kept, the park will remain closed for the weekend and restricted access to the children's playground and the ficus of the Artillery Barracks.
A dozen Macrophyla ficus are being reviewed this week branch by branch by various experts, in particular, by a specialist in the botanical garden of Valencia, as well as by high-altitude tree trimmers from the concessionary company STV Gestión.
The objective is to check if the heat of these last days has been able to cause some fissure in the branches of these singular specimens, if there is any possible tear, hidden insertions or symptoms of dehydration.
'In case of detecting any problem, the damaged branch will be removed, since for the City Council the first thing is the safety of all the Murcians who use this central Floridablanca garden every day, "explains the mayor of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, José Guillén.
Likewise, the support systems that were placed to check the specimen (dynamic and static) are also being reviewed.
To carry out these works, which end today, it has been necessary to keep the garden closed in the mornings.
On the other hand, if the yellow alert for high temperatures continues for this weekend, access to both the Floridablanca garden and the children's playground and the ficus of the Artillery Barracks will remain restricted.
