Promoted by the UCAM Chair of Entrepreneurship in the Digital Age and the Degree in Telecommunications Systems Engineering of the University, the program introduces 55 ESO students in the use of SCRACTH programming language and electronic development based on ARDUINO.
From 55 educational centers in the region, 55 young people between 12 and 16 years of age are working on the Campus of the Catholic University, in a bid to awaken scientific vocations that cover the demand of the labor market, due to the digital transformation to the one that companies face.
The program, which lasts two weeks and is taught by researchers and alumni of the Degree in Telecommunications Systems Engineering, will allow participants to learn programming languages ​​of common use for their application on the Internet of things and will provide them with knowledge on development of electronic devices based on Arduino architecture.
Students will be able to work on their own pilot development, which they will present at the end of summer.
"We have to reverse the deficit of engineers and programmers, which can only be achieved by showing at real early ages the real applications that future graduates can develop," said César Nicolás, director of the Chair, whose objectives include offering training related to digital transformation, data processing, robotics and artificial intelligence.
The presentation was attended by the Director of Sales for Administration and Institutions of Telefónica in the Region, José Luis Lanzarote, who said that "Telefónica is totally committed to detecting talent and training future managers of digital transformation. the leaders of the digital future and you will depend on the change to become a reality. "
For his part Rafael Melendreras, vice dean of the Degree in Telecommunications Systems Engineering, thanked the heads of the educational centers for the great reception of the initiative and encouraged the attendees to participate in the following program activities, such as the public presentation of the projects and participation in the Week of Science and Technology of the Region of Murcia.
