The Vihsibles association, created a few days ago for the care and accompaniment of people living with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and other Sexually Transmitted Infections in the Region of Murcia, will start tomorrow Wednesday to perform in the municipality of Murcia its first Help Group Mutual, integrated exclusively by people living with HIV.
The president of the group, the Murcia Antonio Serrano, explained that "with this initiative we want to fill a gap that we are the people who have received this diagnosis, and we have to face, until now in solitude, complex and unknown situations in our life, as if to tell it or not, when and to whom, how to confront the couple's relationships, as well as the stigma that still has part of society for its misinformation, despite the fact that, to this day, a person diagnosed with HIV , fulfilling the treatment, very soon lowers its viral load until undetectable and can not transmit the virus in any way ".
In these Mutual Help Groups the main rules are confidentiality and respect for what others say, without judging anyone, and respecting if someone wants to talk about anything that disturbs them, they can contribute their point of view or, if you prefer , just listen.
"It's about providing a safe space between people who understand what the other is living, because it is part of what we have lived or can do since we live with HIV," Serrano added.
"Thanks to medication, the quality and life expectancy of those who live with HIV is the same as the rest of the population, so it is essential to start paying attention to other aspects of the personal sphere.
