The University of Murcia and the Association for the Care of People with Autism and other Generalized Developmental Disorders of the Region of Murcia (ASTRADE), have signed a voluntary agreement in an act that has taken place in the University Social Center.
The rubric of this agreement is intended to raise society's awareness of the importance of university volunteerism supporting and improving the quality of life of people with disabilities and their families, and to promote, activate and launch new actions and ways of collaboration that empower a social and solidarity fabric.
As explained by Paloma Sobrado, vice-rector of Students and Services to the University Community, for several years, the university volunteer program has as one of its main objectives to expand the training of students through their participation in cross-sectional volunteering activities and solidarity.
For this, he said, "it is important to expand the offer of volunteer places, so that it is closer to the interests of students and provides a geographical diversity of them."
ASTRADE aims to improve the lives of people with autism and their families.
The project will be developed in the Region of Murcia, with greater incidence in the area of ​​Murcia capital, Molina and surroundings, followed by Cartagena and Lorca, may arise in a timely manner, some action in another location.
The disorders of the Autistic Spectrum constitute a group of neurodevelopmental alterations that globally affect different superior brain functions of the individual, such as intelligence, language capacity and social interaction.
