Health delivers the Oscars to the best shorts against drugs made by high school students (13/06/2019)

For the second year, the Department of Sports and Health holds a gala to reward the work.

The program 'Drugs through an objective' has registered a participation of 1,800 students from 15 institutes of the municipality, who have submitted 90 works.

The Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, opened this morning the II closing gala of the program "Drugs through an objective ', an initiative that invites high school students to produce short films related to the prevention of addictions.

Every year and coinciding with the beginning of the school year, the Municipal Health Services put at the disposal of the educational centers a guide of projects of health promotion and prevention to the addictions in which a total of 22 programs are offered, among they, "Drugs through an objective", in which high school students are the protagonists of their learning.

This year the participation has been approximately 1,800 students distributed in 90 groups of 15 IES of the municipality.

The program consists of the production of short films in which young people show their vision on the subject.

They create scripts, act as actors and direct them, all coordinated and supervised by specialized professionals.

The award ceremony of the awards "Drugs through an objective" was held this morning at the Circus Theater and the 7 best videos were screened, to which the distinctions for best short film, actor, actress are awarded , group, public prize and finalist prize 2018-2019, which have fallen on:

- Better work in group: 3º of the IES Floridablanca

- Best actor: José Miguel Geo López, of the IES Martínez Vélez de El Palmar

- Best actress: Eva Carrillo, from IES Rector José Sabater, from Cabezo de Torres

- Best short film: IES Ramón y Cajal, with 'Las drogas y yo'

- Audience Award: to IES Martínez Vélez de El Palmar.

- Awards to the finalists: ÃES Miguel de Cervantes, Alfonso X and Ays Teaching Center

Message and originality

In addition, a special mention has been made of other videos that, without having been finalists, have been selected among the best.

The criteria used for the selection of the works are, among others, the message they transmit, teamwork, originality and quality.

"Drugs through an objective" is a program aimed at students of Compulsory Secondary Education and Bachiller, whose purpose is to prevent the consumption of drugs through the creation of short films in video, under the direction and supervision of specialized monitors .

With the realization of these shorts, the young people have been informed about the risks of drug use and have developed healthy alternatives to leisure time occupation, in addition to improving the ability to work in groups.

The program "Drugs through an objective" is part of a wide educational offer on prevention of consumption that the City of Murcia offers free of charge to all schools in the municipality that request it.
