The Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, directed by José Guillén, began yesterday to install the system of tanning and shading of different streets of the historic center in order to mitigate the high temperatures.
Thus, the City Council once again carries out this action, which has been very well received every year, and which will benefit the streets of Platería and Trapería and their surroundings.
The awnings are being placed with the objective of favoring the pedestrian walk in this commercial area of the city that is very busy in the streets Platería, Trapería, San Cristóbal and Joufré, Puxmarina and Esteve Mora squares.
The fixed canvas has a microperforated fabric canvas, which guarantees its durability, easy maintenance and fire resistance, at a minimum height of 4.5 meters.
In addition, the clamping is done again with tensioned steel cable, thus achieving a more aesthetically pleasing cover.
Councilman Jose Guillen stressed that "this action, in addition to minimizing the effects of high temperatures, returns to our streets its historical character since at the beginning of the twentieth century had these awnings."
We must remember that the City Council is working hard to cover and provide shade areas that are widely used by Murcia, as playgrounds for parks and gardens or school playgrounds.
