Mireia Belmonte, Ana Carrasco, Joel González and representatives of the different teams, among the protagonists of an event that will celebrate, among other successes, the record in the University Spain Championship with 141 medals
The Catholic University of Murcia closes another sports course for history with the celebration of the XXI Sports Gala (June 4 17:00 hours) which will be attended by the athletes and teams of the UCAM, which will be chaired by José Luis Mendoza and Alejandro Blanco, presidents of the Catholic University and the COE respectively.
Big stars like Mireia Belmonte, Ana Carrasco, Miguel Angel Lopez or Joel González will not miss a date in which all the successes won in recent months will be celebrated, mainly the new record in the medal table of the University Spain Championship with 141 medals: 86 gold, 40 silver and 15 bronze.
It will be the moment to pay tribute to the UCAM athletes who are shining in the international scene with their great achievements such as the medals in the World Championship of the canoeists Paco Cubelos, Ãñigo Peña and Javier Hernanz;
the victories in international beach volleyball tournaments by Liliana Fernández and Elsa Baquerizo;
the world title in Superbikes by Ana Carrasco;
or the European titles in athletics of Jorge Ureña and María Pérez to give some examples.
The presence of the clubs belonging to the UCAM will not be absent, highlighting this year the spectacular season of the UCAM Cartagena Table Tennis and its triplet (League, Cup and European ETTU Cup).
The UCAM Murcia CB will celebrate its busy permanence, the UCAM Murcia CF could not be in playoff promotion but it is already working in the next season and the UCAM Murcia Canoe Club will show the successes achieved during the season.
The twenty clubs of the Region linked to the Catholic University will also be represented.
As every year, more than 500 athletes of the UCAM, from the Olympic champions to the youngest, will meet at the Temple of Los Jerónimos to celebrate the successes achieved and gain momentum to face a summer full of great international events.
And mainly, as has been usual in recent years, the Sports Gala UCAM will serve to continue strengthening ties with the Spanish Olympic Committee.
The alliance between the two institutions has marked a before and after in Spanish sport giving great athletes the opportunity to continue competing and training at the highest level without leaving aside higher education.
