The Endometriosis Immunology group of the University of Murcia receives this Thursday, May 30, the check of 6,000 euros that the Association 'EndomeQué?'
He collected last November at a charity concert held in Madrid.
The act of delivery of this money will take place on the campus of La Merced at 13.30 and will include the acoustic performance of Road Ramos and Claim.
The event will feature members of the Immunology research of Endometriosis and the rector of the UMU, José Luján.
During the celebration of the event will be made public the new date of the benefit concert of Endomequé?
in 2019, which will take place in Madrid.
In 2018, it counted on the participation of the band Murcia Second, Kitai, Penny Necklace, Rubén Pozo, Rayden, Fizzy Soup, Full and Isma Romero.
María Concepción Martínez-Esparza Alvargonzález, researcher of the Immunology of Endometriosis group at UMU, assures that the importance of this donation is double.
In the first place, because "it has opened the door of patronage for research within the University of Murcia and that will mean that many projects can obtain funds to investigate";
and, secondly, "because thanks to this money we can acquire reagents that allow us to carry out our research", explains Martínez-Esparza.
The group of Immunology of Endometriosis seeks with its projects to obtain therapeutic targets to obtain effective treatments, as well as to improve the diagnostic methods so that they are less aggressive.
"This disease is very unknown even for health personnel and it takes a long time to get a diagnosis, sometimes women have to go into the operating room to have this diagnosis," explains the researcher.
Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease that affects around 15-20% of the female population.
That means, only in the Region of Murcia, around 35,000 women.
The cause of this disorder is unknown and is characterized by the presence of functionally active endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity.
This endometrial tissue can attach to organs such as the lungs, intestines, liver or kidneys, causing severe pain and infertility.
In addition, it is associated with ovarian cancer.
Make visible this disease that is hardly talked about socially is one of the objectives shared by the Endomequé Association?
and the research group of the University of Murcia.
