The PSOE will create a Sports City in the municipality of Murcia.
This was announced on Wednesday by the socialist candidate for mayor, José Antonio Serrano, who, wrapped by the national deputy Juan Luis Soto, has ensured that Murcia will become a benchmark in the field of sports competitions.
The Sports City projected by the candidate of the PSOE in the parcels north of the Kingdom of Murcia Avenue with Juan de Borbón, will have facilities for multiple sports practices that will serve as a pole of attraction to the national organization of competitions of various disciplines.
In addition, the construction of an Urban Youth Hostel that would be part of the sports enclosure is contemplated.
"We want to make Murcia a reference point for sport, with facilities in which there will be football seven and eleven soccer zones, racquet sports area, basketball and indoor soccer, as well as an athletics track and a rugby field ", Serrano explained.
This Sports City, which will occupy an area of ​​170,000 m2, will also have a residence for athletes and a sports pavilion with an Olympic pool, thus achieving a set of facilities suitable for holding sports competitions at all levels.
Also, it will respond to one of the historic claims of the sector, concentrating in the same space to the Department of Sports, the General Directorate of Sports and a seat for sports federations that either do not have one, or are very dispersed in the territory.
"In the surroundings of this sports complex there will also be, of course, areas for walking and parks for outdoor sports activities, what we want is for the municipality of Murcia to be equipped with means that allow us to become part of the circuit of high level sports competitions and that makes us a regional reference and a focus of attraction in the promotion of sports ".
As a connection between all the zones of the Sports City, a network of equipped roads will be created (which will have autochthonous vegetation in its margins) that will allow the realization of itineraries of up to ten kilometers of route.
"It's a big project but it's a project that has been studied in detail and that we are committed to putting in. For too many years, sport in our town has not received enough boost from Murcia City Council, but this will change Not only because the municipality will have a unique Sports City in the Region of Murcia, but also because we will promote different actions aimed at praising the different sports practices that take place in our municipality.We will bet on sport as one of the fundamental axes of that sustainable and modern Murcia in which we believe ", Serrano concluded.
